How to Create Loyal Customers
Too often, after we spend a lot of time, money and effort to acquire customers, we lose them because of neglect. Here are some proven ways to earn their loyalty.
Know your customers
Get to know your customers and their preferences. Based on their buying history create special offers they can take advantage of. Everyone loves a good deal!
Inform your customers
Say you own a wine store and you just received a shipment of Cabernet Sauvignon. Go through your records to see who buys Cabernet Sauvignon. Next, send them a postcard or email about it. Customers appreciate it when you’re looking out for them.
Help your customers
Write a monthly newsletter to help customers learn about issues that might affect them. Provide information they can use and they’ll think of you as a trusted resource.
Surprise your customers
Send your best customers a gift certificate in the off-season or a useful premium with your name on it. Give your customers a little “extra special” treatment and watch what happens.
Thank your customers
Look for ways to thank your customers. A sincere thank-you card following up a purchase or referral is always a nice touch.
Reward your customers
At your ice cream shop, give out punch cards that offer a free ice cream cone with every ten purchased. Call it a “Membership Card” and add them to your “Preferred Customer” list. Ask your Preferred Customers for their month and day of birth. On their birthday mail them a card with a gift certificate for a free sundae.
